At the scholarship award ceremony held on this day, 59 promising athletes from each discipline were selected as scholarship recipients, and this year's Paris Olympic shooting gold medalist Ban Hyo-jin (Daegu Physical Education High School) was selected as the representative scholarship recipient.

Taein CEO Lee Sang-hyun said, “I hope that young athletes will continue to have confidence, forge their own path, and grow into leaders who can inspire the next generation of sports talent,” and added, “We will continue to work to create a warm and sharing culture in the Korean sports world.”

Also, Jeon Hee-soo (Gyeongbuk Physical Education High School), the daughter of Jeon Sang-gyun, a bronze medalist in the men's 105 kg weightlifting class at the 2012 London Olympics, was selected as the recipient of this year's Taein Scholarship.

Taein Sports Scholarship, founded in 1990, is a company that manufactures circuit breakers and memory modules, and is headed by Lee Sang-hyun, the president of the Korea Hockey Association.

A total of 660 million won in scholarships has been awarded to 741 students so far this year, and Taein scholarship recipients include gold medalists Kim Woo-jin, Im Si-hyeon, Kim Je-deok (all in archery), and 파워볼 Oh Ye-jin (shooting) at this year's Paris Olympics, silver medalist Park Hye-jeong (weightlifting), and bronze medalist Shin Yu-bin (table tennis).

Chairman Lee Sang-hyun, who served as the vice-captain of the Korean team for this year's Paris Olympics, is the first third-generation head of an Olympic sports organization in Korea, following in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather, the late LS Cable Honorary Chairman Koo Tae-hoe (Chairman of the Korea Weightlifting Federation), and his father, Asian Mountaineering Federation Chairman Lee In-jeong (Chairman of the Korea Alpine Federation).
